Tomorrow, June 15th, Foster Youth in Action is hosting a webinar titled, “Voices Rising: Live Online Showcase of Foster Youth Action Across the U.S..”
This event will showcase action that foster youth have worked toward as advocates and leaders in their home states.
As the title suggests, this webinar will give participants the chance to hear from foster youth and young adult leaders from a number of states, from Florida to Hawaii, about “their own unique stories of action.” Young people will speak about their advocacy on a number of issues, from access to higher education to laws protecting foster youth from sex trafficking.
They will share their own stories about affecting change in public policy and political representation, expanding how foster youth share their experiences through digital platforms, and shifting the culture around providing normalcy for these youth.
Foster Youth in Action, the host organization, is built on a youth-organizing model. It brings together young people in sixteen states in a peer-to-peer setting to train them in skills to be advocates for change.
The 90-minute webinar will begin at 4:00pm ET (1:00pm PT). It is free and open to the public. To register, click here.
