Deadline to apply for 3rd Annual CA Dream Network Leadership Academy Internship – SoCal Region

June 30, 2017

Since 2003, the California Dream Network (CDN) – a program of the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) – has been one of the leading organizations for immigrant youth in the State of California. The California Dream Network was created when immigrant students from Wise Up!– a high school program of CHIRLA – graduated and wanted to continue advocating for equal access to education while in college. Through the leadership of immigrant students and their allies, the CDN has been a leading force in defending and advocating for immigrant and undocumented students’ rights. The CDN organized and pushed for the passage of the California Dream Act (AB 130 and 131).
We turned out over 8,000 calls to state senate/assembly in support of the bill, we gathered over 10,000 petitions and organized 12 student-led rallies across the state. Additionally, the California Dream Network has continued to be a leading force in promoting and encouraging immigrant and undocumented students’ rights and education in higher educational institutions by advocating for the Dreamer Loan Program (SB 1210), AB 60, Dream Resource Centers in colleges, Health for All, among other legislations.

The California Dream Network Leadership Academy Internship is a seven week (July 5 – August 19) non-paid summer internship where participants with a strong desire to get involved in their community will have the opportunity to learn about organizing and advocating for immigrant rights.
