In a nutshell:
PNC Financial Service Groups is a financial institution. PNC Foundation is the charitable arm of that organization, from which it receives all its principle. The foundation offers grants to nonprofits that support early education, before age 5, and/or economic development in mostly the midwest, east coast and south eastern areas of the United States. Priority is given to early education services that focus on math, science, arts and financial education; and economic development programs targeting low- to moderate-income communities with a focus on: affordable housing, community development and services, revitalization and arts and culture.
In 2004, PNC created a $350 million multi-year initiative called Grow Up Great, its signature cause, to help prepare children from birth to age 5 for success in school and life. The foundation leaders have partnered with such nonprofits as Sesame Workshop and The Fred Rogers Company. The foundation claims that more than 1.75 million children have benefited from approximately $60 million in grants given to nonprofits that support early education.
