The Foster Care Supportive Visitation/In-Home Parent Education Program (FCSV) provides an intensive individualized parent-child visit approach, that centers around the specific needs of the child(ren) in foster care. This program allows for the parent to receive customized supportive services in preparation for, and after each visit, toward achieving the goal of reunification in a timely manner. Services are designed to respond to the needs of families seeking to improve their parenting skills and are based on the Nurturing Parenting Program (parent education programming), created by Stephen J. Bavolek, for the prevention and treatment of child abuse and neglect. Program instruction is based on proven psycho-educational and cognitive-behavioral approaches to learning. In these approaches, awareness, understanding, acceptance, and conscious replacement of old patterns of thought and behavior are replaced with newer, healthier ones. Additional information about the Nurturing Parenting Program can be found at: http://www.nurturingparenting.com.
