The Office of Refugee Resettlement, a division of the Department of Health and Human Services, is entering cooperative agreements to house some of the thousands of unaccompanied minors turning themselves into federal border patrol.
ORR will consider providers that can care for youths in group homes, shelters, foster homes, and various levels of staff-secure and secure facilities.
A number of services in addition to shelter are required of providers:
- Acculturation services
- Family reunification and release services
- Education
- Needs assessment, and counseling services
- Mental health and health services
- Legal support
- Recreation
