This report summarizes the results of six studies over a 25-year time frame on the best practices in risk assessment for both adult and juvenile corrections supervision.
“This paper describes a comprehensive approach to assessment, developed by the National Council on Crime and Delinquency (NCCD), that successfully addresses all three objectives… (1) Resources should target high-risk offenders; (2) programs should address needs related to each offender’s criminal behavior; (3) and case plans should employ strategies that reflect the learning style, motivation, capacities, and circumstances of each offender.”
