Entitled “Help me Succeed,” the publication outlines seven factors that contribute to pregnancy among youth in foster care, which were identified through interviews with young people in foster care.
Also, youth in care recommend better information on topics related to pregnancy planning and prevention. This includes training foster parents, offering relevant health education and providing access to health clinics for services. The publication concludes with a series of practical steps local child welfare agencies can take to prevent unintended pregnancy among youth in foster care.
