Foster youth in out-of-home placements have high rates of mental health disorders. This report highlights the growing need for further examination of such disturbing trends. In order to best address these foster youth’s needs, child welfare agencies need to have proper screening and identification tools. Researchers used 279 foster parents and teachers to evaluate the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire as a screening tool.
