The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation has announced several Michigan based youth grants. The foundation awarded a package of three grants in September 2013, for academic enrichment programs offered through the Flint Michigan School District.
- $576,200 to enable the Flint Community Schools to implement and broaden a curriculum for the new Brownell-Holmes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) campus, serving pre-kindergarten through sixth grade
- $100,000 for a partnership with the Cranbrook Educational Community’s Institute of Science in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., to supplement the district’s science education for students at the STEM campus as well as other Flint middle-school students and their families
- $50,000 to provide outreach programming and field trips for K-12 students and professional development for teachers in cooperation with the Flint Cultural Center
Additionally, the foundation awarded YouthQuest $3.1 million to continue academic, enrichment and recreational activities during non-school hours. YouthQuest serves children in Flint and Genesee counties in Michigan.
