The Heller Foundation made the following education-related grants at the end of 2013:

Alliance for Arts Learning Leadership (Alameda County Office of Education), Hayward, Calif., $30,000 to expand the Integrated Learning Specialist Program to additional Bay Area counties

Bay Area Earth Science Institute at San Jose State University (Tower Foundation), San Jose, Calif., $53,909 to develop a cadre of teachers and teacher educators who use Education for Sustainability in their classrooms and teacher preparation courses

California Alliance for Arts Education, Pasadena, Calif., $45,000 to inform and educate parents about the change in California’s school funding formula and the opportunities this may present to increase arts education in the schools

Children’s Environmental Literacy Foundation, Chappaqua, N.Y., $20,000 for the Summer Institute on Education for Sustainability

Creative Change Educational Solution, Ypsilanti, Mich., $35,000 to develop a national network of model programs implementing the concepts of Education for Sustainability

Graduate School of Education, University of California, Berkeley, $37,239 for the Arts and Academic Language Development Summer School Project

Inner-City Arts, Los Angeles, $35,000 for the Creativity in the Classroom program

Luna Dance Institute, Berkeley, Calif., $30,000 to provide professional development for dance teachers who wish to establish or expand new dance programs for children and youth

Performing Arts Workshop, San Francisco, $22,000 for a collaborative project with two other arts education organizations to consolidate administrative functions

StageWrite (Intersection for the Arts), San Francisco, $15,000 for the Teaching Artist Training Program

Ten Strand, San Francisco, $20,000 for general support

The Putney School, Putney, Vt.,  $100,000 to help establish the Carmelita Chase Hinton Endowed Chair for Environmental Studies and Sustainability
