Principal Deputy Administrator of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention
Melodee Hanes, who served as acting administrator for the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention until the president appointed Bob Listenbee this year, has been assigned to serve as acting director of communications for the Office of Justice Programs (OJP).
OJP is the parent agency at the Department of Justice that oversees juvenile justice programs
Hanes became the principal deputy administrator to Listenbee this year, and that position will go unfilled for now, according to an email from OJJDP spokeswoman Starr Stepp.
“Two deputy administrators and two senior advisors will continue to support the Administrator in our efforts to ensure children are healthy, educated and free from violence,” Stepp said in the email.
OJJDP’s senior advisors are Catherine Pierce and Greg Thompson; the deputy administrators are Nancy Ayers and Marilyn Roberts. OJJDP is also still fielding candidates for a chief of staff.
