A group of foundations and other grant makers are backing a small investment in one of the Trump administration’s favorite workforce ventures: apprenticeships. The Ballmer Group, Annie E. Casey Foundation and several other funders will back a $1 million grant to connect young people to career training opportunities.

Giving Reaches All New High During 2014

Charitable giving in the United States rose by 7.1 percent last year to a new high of $358.38 billion, according to Giving USA, an annual report by the Indiana University’s Lilly Family School of Philanthropy.

Jack Kent Cooke Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies Fund Projects to Help More Kids Get to College

The Virginia-based Jack Kent Cooke Foundation has announced a $500,000 grant to their long-time partners, the College Advising Corps, to provide personalized college advising to high-achieving, low-income students from around the nation using video conferencing and screen sharing, among other technologies.

Casey Foundation Baltimore, Maryland www.aecf.org The Annie E Casey Foundation has awarded the Milwaukee-based membership organization, The Alliance for Children and Families, a $100,000 grant. The grant will be used to implement a program run by The Alliance that supports child and family behavioral health service providers, as they transition from a traditional residential care approach to a new model that emphasizes a child- and family-centered values approach.
