West Philadelphia Promise Zone Gets a Boost for Its Youngest Citizens

The William Penn Foundation and Drexel University have formed a partnership to help improve early education in West Philadelphia. This partnership will support the West Philadelphia Early Childhood Education Initiative (WPECE) to increase high-quality child care in the Mantua, West Powelton and Belmont neighborhoods.

The Annie E. Casey Foundation Awards Grant to Support Transformative Child and Family Service Organizations

Annie E. Casey Foundation Baltimore, Maryland www.aecf.org The Annie E Casey Foundation has awarded the Milwaukee-based membership organization, The Alliance for Children and Families, a $100,000 grant. The grant will be used to implement a program run by The Alliance that supports child and family behavioral health service providers, as they transition from a traditional residential care approach to a new model that emphasizes a child- and family-centered values approach.

Foundations Commit $194 Million to ‘My Brother’s Keeper’ Projects

Eleven foundations committed to $194 million in funding for work related to the My Brother’s Keeper Initiative (MBK), which was created by President Barack Obama to help serve young minority men in the country.

2014 NCRP Impact Awards Recognize Four Foundations

The National Committee For Responsive Philanthropy held their annual NCRP Impact Awards this week. The awards honor those foundations that practice responsible, innovative, high impact philanthropy in four categories: large private foundations, small/mid size private foundations, corporate foundations and grantmaking public charities.2014 The 2014 recipients were: The Ben and Jerry’s Foundation, The California Endowment, Hill-Snowdon Foundation and The Liberty Hill Foundation.
