Los Angeles County Creates Center for Strategic Public-Private Partnerships

The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors voted today to create a philanthropy liaison within the recently formed Office of Child Protection called the Center for Strategic Public-Private Partnerships. The recommendation to create the center came from a group of philanthropists–the Foster Care Funders Collaborative–led by Southern California Grantmakers (SCG), a regional association representing over 200 grantmakers.

$2.5 Million from Hilton for Transition-Aged New York Youth

The Conrad N. Hilton Foundation has awarded The City University of New York (CUNY) with a $2.5 million grant to serve transition aged foster youth who are interested in pursuing an associate’s degree within the City system.

Teen Pregnancy Costs California Hundreds of Millions

Teen pregnancy has always been a costly problem for everyone involved; including the taxpayers. A study released by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy on April 29th, estimates that teen pregnancy costs California taxpayers $965 million a year.

Longtime Hilton Foundation CEO Stepping Down in 2015

Steven Hilton, CEO of the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation, announced he will retire at the end of 2015. Hilton has led the foundation for over 30 years, and has transformed it from a staff of six and a budget of $6 million to annual grant making in excess of $90 million.
