In August, Youth Services Insider reported on a leadership shakeup at the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities. The entire staff of the Washington, D.C., office was let go as the membership organization, which represents hundreds of family and youth services agencies around the country, sought to rebuild its Beltway presence.

In August, the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities laid off the staff of its headquarters in Washington, D.C., signaling plans for a change in the way the membership organization did business in the nation’s capital.

In Tuesday’s beast of a Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors meeting, the supervisors grappled with the contentious issue of how to fund a homelessness initiative before hearing a brief presentation about the county’s child protection efforts.

In September of 2014, the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities announced that it was developing a child welfare finance reform plan that it would promote with the help of American Public Human Services Association and the National Organization of State Associations for Children.

By Susan Dreyfus Some may say a president’s State of the Union address is inconsequential, but I believe it is important as it provides us, as a nation, an annual opportunity to respectfully discuss our values and priorities.

The Alliance for Strong Families and Communities, an organization representing hundreds of nonprofit human services providers, announced two big developments at its national conference in October. It changed its name (from the Alliance for Children and Families), and moved its headquarters from Milwaukee to its policy shop in Washington, D.C.

Soon 2014 will be a memory of days gone by. For Youth Services Insider and everyone else at The Imprint, the memories will be fond. We will look back upon 2014 as our first full year of publishing, a year in which we doubled our subscribers and our traffic.

World Resort Drive, Orlando, Fla. – In the mouse-eared shadow of America’s iconic entertainment complex, about 500 youth and family service employees met at the Alliance for Children and Families national conference this week to discuss services for struggling families and children.
