Florida: According to this news account, “child welfare officials are on the defensive this week after revelations that children in taxpayer-financed group homes are falling prey to sex traffickers.” California: A federal report notes that “victims were often recruited by sex traffickers and pimps from group homes.”

Good Riddance to Term ‘Child Prostitute’

As a children’s social worker I believe the term “child prostitute” is inaccurate, misleading and should be removed from the conversation when discussing issues of sexually trafficked children. Thankfully the Associated Press now agrees.

Last week, the WestCoast Children’s Clinic (WCC) hosted an event on child sex trafficking that harkened back to a 1970s approach to policy analysis.
